the elves have left the building

Hi! I suppose you're here to find out how our Christmas went. Well...unfortunately we don't have a lot of pictures, as our staff photographers (Mom and Dad) were both incapacitated to some degree throughout the holiday.* But here are the high points: Grandma Lipsey and Aunt Katherine were here, we got some great gifts including trains and books and instruments and Darth Taters and a new play kitchen that was shipped without the decals but we didn't care but Mom really did, and we got to hang out a lot with cousin Sam.

Here we are in Sam's bathroom with his new light-up moon (we got one too). Please insert your own moon/toilet joke here. Anyway, all in all, Zak and I had a pretty awesome Christmas, and Zak's faith in Santa has been restored. Hope your holiday was awesome too!

* Incapacitated = sick with a cold, experiencing a horrible reaction to Theraflu (Mom) or on crutches (Dad**).
** If you want to know why Daddy is on crutches, please e-mail him.

bearded, belated, unappreciated

So yesterday was our Christmas party at Playschool. My doubts about a certain Mr. S. Claus (if that's even his real name) were heightened when he showed up a half hour late. I mean, I'm sure this is his busy time and all, but he just barged in yelling "HO HO HO" and expected us to fawn all over him without offering even a hint of an apology. Here you can see the man's obvious disappointment as none of the kids pay him any attention once his bag o' gifts is empty.

Even though we got some cool paints made by Crayola Elves, the dude remains under an umbrella of suspicion in my book. I'll certainly let you know what Santa-related events transpire on the actual day of Christmas. Until then...Happy Holidays!

holiday thoughts

SAM: Hey guys, can you believe Christmas is almost here!? I can't wait to open all my presents and see Grandma and Aunt Katherine and eat lots of cookies.
ZAK: I don't know. There's something fishy about this Santa character I keep hearing about. I've looked everywhere, and our house doesn't appear to have a chimney. How will he get in? And what, elves make our presents? I want to go on record right now and say that I have serious doubts about this whole operation.
WYN: Did someone mention presents? Grandma and Aunt Katherine? COOKIES!?! Count me in!

1 part plastic bowl + 2 parts imagination

Yes, we really came up with this ourselves. My brother and I take turns putting part of Mom's OXO Salad Spinner on our heads, tilting it forward just so, and calling out "Buzz Lightyear!" (me) or "Buzz Rescue!" (Wyn). Just a small part of our daily quest to save the universe...
