a howlin' good time with grandma

Weekends as a general rule are good, but this weekend was especially good because Grandma Betty was here! Saturday night we took her shopping at Oakbrook Center. This is where the aforementioned Great Houlihan's Applesauce Incident occured, only minutes after the above photo was taken. We asked Grandma to make a statement about that event in today's post. However, she declined, citing her employment at a law firm.

Sunday we took Grandma somewhere even better than the mall: the Brookfield Zoo! We joined the six billion other kids who were there in their Halloween costumes for Boo at the Zoo. Once again, I was Eeyore, while Wyn played the part of Tigger. Grandma played the part of Grandma.

I must admit I was a little grumpy and shed my Eeyore costume shortly after we arrived. However, Wyn kept his outfit on the entire time. This may have had something to do with the fact that we heard shouts of "Tigger! Tigger! It's Tigger!" everywhere we went. Now we know what it feels like to be Brangelina.

After an exhausting day of Zoo-Booing and whatnot, we retired to our bedroom to demonstrate our patented Footie Pajama Toothbrush Dance for Grandma. She was, of course, very impressed.

Words or pictures cannot express how much we enjoyed Grandma Betty's visit. However, this photo may tell you how we felt about her leaving:

We love you Grandma, and we can't wait to see you at Christmas!

for immediate release

I have been asked to make the following statement on my brother's behalf regarding the events that transpired this evening, commonly referred to in subsequent press accounts as The Great Houlihan's Applesauce Incident.

We would first like to note that no adults directly witnessed the occurrence. However, we do acknowledge that some measure of circumstantial evidence implicating Zak's involvement may be perceived from the fact he was seen eating applesauce moments before fellow patrons found themselves covered by the delicious concoction. Also, the mysterious disappearance of his applesauce cup combined with his allegedly foul temperament at the time of the incident are not beneficial to his case.

Therefore, we are prepared to offer our parents reimbursement for the amount they expended on our behalf to compensate the victims of this unprovoked and unwarranted culinary attack. The amount of this payment was sufficient to purchase beverages for the injured parties, specifically two margaritas and two diet cokes. We propose to make this reimbursement in cash at a later date, or are willing to offer equivalent compensation in the form of sticks and pebbles diligently collected during walks around the neighborhood. This offer does not in any way constitute confession of guilt or acknowledgement of involvement in this incident. However, we do wish to express our deepest regret that this terrible episode occurred and our heartfelt sympathies to those affected.

We are relieved to put this affair behind us and are very grateful for the continued love and support of our fans, friends and family.

dress rehearsal, take two

Yesterday afternoon, Blue, a.k.a. Sam, invited us over for a Halloween Party and Parade Around the Block. Our cousin's neighborhood will never be the same! Cackle, cackle.

a pre-halloween treat

Wyn and I had a dress rehearsal for next Monday when Mom and Dad took us to the WSMOMs (West Suburban Mothers of Multiples) Halloween Party yesterday. Humongous thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Lipsey for our costumes; aren't they cool?!!?!?! We had lots of fun at the party, despite our somewhat zombie-fied looks in the above photo.

Here you see Tigger/Wyn communing with a fellow partygoer. "Seriously now, tell me. Man to man. What is up with the Teletubbies? What do they mean?"

Happy Pre-Halloween!

a visit from mel, it did not smell

We just had a visit from our dear Aunt Mel,
It was really swell; in fact it absolutely did not smell.
Sunday we took her to Millennium Park,
Where we took this photo for the occasion to mark.
Dad asked Zak and me to smile, but we felt a little wary.
Instead we just stared at the work of Frank Ghery.

Here's another shot with Zak looking off to the side.
Oh, don't be fooled; we welcomed Mel with arms open wide.
Our aunt's lots of fun and really quite perky.
She came here all the way from Albuquerque!

Then Monday afternoon we all went for a swing.
Mel helped us go high, which was a very good thing.
'Cause my brother and I, we don't like to sit still.
But we love silly playmates, and Mel sure fits the bill.

Here we are on Tuesday, showing off our pearly whites.
Zak and I are usually upbeat, but Mel took us to new heights.
We didn't want her to leave, but apparently it had to be so.
Anyway, the only thing that would've been more fun
Is if Mel had Madi in tow.

We love you Aunt Melissa!

what are words for

My little brother and I are talking up a storm now. Not that anyone else can understand us most of the time. Nevertheless, my all-time favorite word is still guck, or as Wyn says, dis, which may mean bus or something else entirely, even I'm not sure. Also, my brother is constantly holding up things and asking "Do?" This translates roughly to "Pardon me, but would you mind naming this object?" Subsequently Mom or Dad says dolphin, leaf, dirty laundry, or whatever. We're also learning the alphabet, which quite honestly is pretty easy. Every letter is pronounced "S," except "O" which is of course "O."

stack and destroy

Our three favorite verbs right now are nest, stack and destroy. We prefer to work in boxes, blocks, buckets and cups, but we'll throw in the occasional puzzle piece or Weeble for good measure.

very, very busy

We're pleased to announce that Cousin Sam has joined our topography transfer team as a part-time freelance consultant. He arrived Saturday morning armed with his keen sense of design and expertise on macro pouring methods. Meanwhile, Zak proceeded with micro pebble arrangement, and I played "Itsy Bitsy Spider." It was a very busy morning all around.
