our first christmas

All Zak and I can say about Christmas is, "WOW!" Not only did we get to go to a Christmas Eve children's mass and play with Cousin Sam for four whole days, we got lots and lots of presents. But our best present of all was seeing Grandma and Grandpa Lipsey and Aunt Katherine, who flew in from North Carolina.

Here I am enjoying a quiet holiday moment with Mom and Dad.

Now here's Zak enjoying a...quiet holiday moment with Grandpa. Wait a minute, what's up with all these quiet holiday moments? Not really a representative sample of all the hoopla and hubbub if you ask me.

Doh! Another quiet holiday moment, this time between Grandma and Zak. Who took these pictures anyway? Trust me, we had a really fun and exciting Christmas. It truly was the best ever!

fun, fun, fun with grandma betty

Since we didn't get to go to Kansas City for Thanksgiving, we invited Grandma Betty up here for an early Christmas. It was soooooo good to see her. As an added bonus, she brought lots of new toys for us to fight over.

Here we are taking a break from dinner to educate Grandma on the finer points of playing patty-cake. Notice our special two-prong teaching technique: Wyn demonstrates the actual hand motions while I offer helpful verbal instructions. No, Grandma. Lead with your right hand.

Sunday night, Mom and Grandma gave us our first simultaneous bath. Daddy took lots of pictures of the actual event, but Mom wants to save those for our first dates (which apparently will happen when we're 21). Do you like my pose? I was going for a Reverse-Heisman-Trophy-Meets-Michelangelo's-The Creation-of-Adam sort of thing.

Oh, and one other thing. In celebration of Grandma's visit, I decided to abandon the old army crawl and switch to 100% real crawling. Gooooo, me! Thanks for coming to see us Grandma Betty. We love you!

old hats

Yesterday we got a huge package from Grandma and Grandpa Lipsey. It contained a bunch of Christmas presents (!) and these knit hats that Daddy wore when he was a kid long, long ago. He went absolutely nuts when he saw them; apparently they were his favorite articles of clothing ever. Here's a direct quote about the one Wyn has on (with the old Kansas City Comets logo): "I think about this hat all the time." Kinda sad, Pop. Nevertheless, we are thrilled to have these two priceless heirlooms, and we will wear them with pride. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!

face plant

Last Saturday I sustained my first standing up/falling down injury when I plummeted nose first into our sisal rug. Obviously, Mom and Dad weren't thinking about the tender skin of their future children when they bought that thing. Anyway...I don't mind it so much. Zak says it makes me look tough, like I got into a scuffle with a 12-month-old or something. So that's the story I'm going with when people ask.

exhibit a

Like Santa Claus, the Yeti and the Loch Ness Monster, the existence of our teeth has been the subject of much debate. "I've seen 'em with my own eyes!" some proclaimed, while others simply shook their heads in doubt. Well, here's indisputable, unimpeachable, officially certified photographic proof. They do exist.

play date

Yesterday, Wyn and I decided we wanted to spend some quality time with our buddies Dahlia and Pam. So we invited them over and told our parents to hit the road. While Mom and Dad went shopping by themselves (yawn), the four of us spent the day playing, dancing, reading and generally having fun. We had an absolute blast and are ever so grateful to Dahlia and Pam for hanging out with us. Thanks guys!
