toothache

Just in time for the holidays, Wyn and I are finally getting our first teeth. Two each...that's four times the fun! Mom has tried repeatedly to capture the little buggers on film (with the previous misidentification catastrophe in mind), but we don't feel like cooperating at this time. Maybe later.

P.S. Don't I look like Cousin Sam in this photo?

lonely thanksgiving

Well, we had big plans for our first Thanksgiving. Mom and Dad were going to chauffer us to Kansas City to see our extended family. But alas, Mother Nature had something else in mind. After driving for four hours and covering just 48 miles, we gave up and came back home. This makes us very, very, very, very, very, very sad (Mom and Dad too).

This isn't the Thanksgiving dinner we had in mind, but what can you do. Mom and Dad ate turkey at Ann Sather, while we chewed on apple slices tucked safely in our feeder net things.

Here we are putting on happy faces to show how much we love our family, even if we didn't get to spend Thanksgiving with them. We love you, Grandma Betty, Grandpa Paul, Grandpa Kelmel, Grandma Kelmel, Great Grandma Kelmel, Aunt Melissa, Cousin Madalin, Friend Toph, Great Step-Grandma Doris, Great Aunts Linda and Vicki, Great Uncle Steve, Second Cousins Ryan and Jenni, and everyone else we were hoping to see. We are very thankful for all of you, and we miss you very much.

P.S. Today is our nine-month birthday.

stand-up guy

Today while Mom was taking some shots of Zak and me in our favorite chair, I suddenly decided to pull myself up for the first time. I don't think I'm ready to make this a regular habit yet, but it sure was fun to see Mom freak out.

power lunch

Wyn, Mom and I met up with our friends Dahlia and Pam for lunch yesterday. We ate at a very happening downtown restaurant called the Atwood Cafe. While the ladies enjoyed their yummy-looking big people food, my brother and I had to make do with plain ol' teething biscuits. Blah. To protest these incredibly lopsided culinary circumstances, we attempted to pull every single item off the table (that's me eyeing a bread plate). That really showed 'em!

traditional labels don't apply to me

Yesterday, Dad bought a cheap electronic labeler, which led Mom to an unfortunate solution for the problem some folks have in telling us apart. Note that my brother fails to express the appropriate outrage to this indignation. Sheesh.

fun with the howells

This weekend, Wyn and I got to meet the Kentucky Howells: Chris, Shari, Jonathan and Laurel. Chris was Daddy's best man when he married Mom, so that makes us practically kin. We visited the Museum of Science and Industry on Saturday, where we saw all sorts of wonders, including dancing robots, a giant choo-choo, and neat stuff from the movies. (I think I saw Dad actually drool while he was pawing the glass in front of the Speeder Bike from Return of the Jedi.)

Laurel and I really hit it off. She sure is funny. Plus, she has great hair for pulling.

After a full day of explaining scientific theory to our parents--they ask so many questions--the four of us kids took a play break at our place. Thanks for coming to see us, guys! We had a wonderful time meeting all y'all, and we can't wait to visit you in Kentucky.

little houdini

This is exactly how Mom and Dad found Wyn at 8:07 this morning. I don't know. I think it's a good look for him.

deep thoughts by wynston lipsey

Sometimes I really enjoy playing with the little boing-y door stop thing. Mom says it's not a toy, but I think it is.

our new pal

Today, Zak and I got to meet Hunter Allen Whitney, our newest bestest buddy. He was born on Halloween. How cool is that? His parents are Colleen and Terry, so you know he's going to be a lot of fun. Judging from his current status, he's also going to have really good hair.

happy birthday grandpa!

Today is Grandpa Lipsey's birthday. Now, Wyn and I would really like to celebrate this special day with him. So here's what we're thinking. We've read a number of texts on quantum physics, teleportation and nanotechnology. Plus, Wyn's been developing this flux capacitor thing in his crib. We've even watched a few episodes of the original Star Trek. If our calculations are correct, and we concentrate hard enough, we should be able to crawl into the camera lens, through the cable that connects the camera to the computer, through the internet, and then emerge from the computer at Grandma and Grandpa Lipsey's house in North Carolina. Wyn's been practicing crawling for about a week, and I can scoot fairly well through tight spaces, so we're pretty sure this is going to work. If not...HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDPA! We can't wait to see you at Christmas. We love you very, very, very much, and so do Mom and Dad.

time change? what time change?

Last Saturday night when Mom and Dad put us to bed, they mentioned something about enjoying an extra hour of sleep. What's that about? I mean, really. Zak thinks it's some kind of government conspiracy. So we decided, the heck with that. We'll wake up at the same time we always do...and continue to do so until further notice. So what if we're going to bed an hour later. And it's still dark out. Sheesh.
